Support provided by the RSL Club has been immeasurable at Willans Hill School.
P&C treasurer Jon Daley described the support from the RSL as “amazing and irreplaceable.”
“It’s hard for a small school like ours to attract money because unless you’re involved with a disabled child it doesn’t really come up on anyone's radar,” Mr Daley said.
“The difference they make to the lives of Willans Hill children and their families is phenomenal.
“We can’t thank them enough.”
The biggest kick from the RSL recently was a charity steer auction.
The club purchased two steers which were then prepped for sale by John Rodd and his daughter Kimberley.
The initiative was started 11 years ago by former RSL president John Keyes. Since then it has generated more than $150,000, all for charity.
The RSL has been supporting the Willans Hill school for many years with all money donated to the school used to purchase equipment for the kids.
“At the end of the day we couldn't do what we do without the support of the RSL,” Mr Daley said.
While there is federal funding available to the school they have to compete with all other schools for every dollar.

This is where the P&C step in to raise money for anything the school may need that isn’t covered by grants.
“The RSL board as a whole are so inviting, they are always welcoming and proactively helping,” Mr Daley said.
Vital support from the club was welcomed by 138 community in the past financial year with more than $450,000 donated.
A large number of that was donated through Club Grants, more than $360,000.
“It’s vitally important to connect with the community and contribute,” RSL general manager Andrew Bell said.
“We expect the community to support us so we support them as much as we can.”
Another major charity supported is the Cancer Council. The RSL has been supporting the cause in the Riverina for the past 15 years.
“They are a wonderful supporter of our fundraising events particularly Relay for Life,” community relations coordinator Cancer Council Western NSW Lily White said.
“Their support allows us to roll out our program across the community to support those with cancer in the Riverina.
“We’re looking forward to their birthday celebration.”
