Wagga police have charged a 19-year-old Wagga man with the murder of missing woman Allecha Boyd.
The breakthrough comes three months after Ms Boyd was last seen in Coolamon on August 10.
Strike Force Amias detectives attended a home at Gurwood Street about 5.20pm on Tuesday and arrested a 19-year-old man.
A warrant was executed on the property and a loaded shortened rifle was seized by police.
The man was taken to Wagga Police Station where he was charged with murder, possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm, possessing ammunition without a permit, not keeping a prohibited firearm safe and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear at Wagga Local Court on Wednesday, November 8.
Police Crime Manager Detective Inspector Darren Cloake said the charges came after months of painstaking work.
“It has been a tireless investigation under Strike Force Amias with detectives coming to the conclusion that Allecha met with foul play,” Detective Inspector Cloake said.
The development comes as the family of Allecha Boyd marks 89 days since she was last seen alive, however police say the investigation is still ongoing.
“We have not yet located Allecha’s remains and investigations are continuing to try to find her,” Detective Inspector Cloake said.
“We are continuing to liaise closely with Allecha’s family as those investigations continue.”
