Winless since March, the Kerry Weir-trained gelding made it back-to-back wins at Corowa on Monday.
Coming off a win at Albury last month, Bondo proved a little too strong in the Circa 1936 Benchmark 64 Hcp (1300m).
The Tumut trainer only took one horse to the races, but came home with the cash after a thrilling win.
Bondo ($7) edged out Destiny’s Revenge ($2.20 fav) to win by a nose.
Weir was delighted with the ride of apprentice jockey Megan Taylor.
“It was a bloody top ride by Megan,” Weir said.
“She saved every inch and then run come and she punched him to the line.
“It was the ride that won the race for him.”
After a spell, Weir was far from disappointed in three luckless runs but was pleased to see him back on top.
“He’d been in a few tough races but the last two races have been ideal,” he said.
“Everything from the barrier to the distance which is quite pleasing.”
It backs up a quinella at Weir’s home track on Saturday.
The Tumut trainer is now looking to find a suitable race for Bondo over Gundagai’s Snake Gully Cup carnival.
The Murrumbidgee Turf Club is having a social day to celebrate Melbourne Cup but there is a non-TAB meeting at Albury.
