After two grand final appearances in his two seasons at the Crows, including this year’s long-awaited flag, Potter and his wife are returning to Tasmania.
Potter arrived with Josh Grant last year and had a big impact, kicking 45 goals for the Crows as well as representing the Riverina League.
This year, he didn’t command quite the same headlines, but Crows coach Jade Hodge said Potter on the wing was part of their successful change of game.
“He’s been fantastic, he played a different range of roles and I think this year on the wing, he really held us in good stead – he’s going to be a massive loss, he’s been good for the club,” Hodge said.
Potter takes to four the number of departures from the Crows’ premiership side, along with retirees Toby Conroy, Neil Irwin and Ben Curley.
Hodge said he’s continuing to meet with the rest of the players and hopes to keep their losses to a minimum.
The Crows are hell-bent on defending their premiership, with plans to begin pre-season in just over two weeks. Hodge said they are looking for a couple of experienced players to bolster their list.
“We’re are in talks with a couple but we’ve got some really good young kids coming through and I’ve got no doubt a few of those guys are ready to step up into it,” he said.
“I’m pretty excited with the list we’ve got but we’ll chat to a few to make sure we’re not too young.”
