EARLIER: Police have arrested a man in connection to yesterday’s fatal car crash on Coleman Street, Turvey Park.
A blue Commodore sedan collided with a ute about 10am on Monday, with the main impact hitting the driver’s side.
The impact pushed the ute more than 30 metres down the street before it stopped outside KU Kookaburra Preschool.
The driver of the ute was 53-year-old father-of-three Craig Smith, who was pulling out of his workplace to see a client when his ute was hit.
Two 21-year-old men and a 20-year-old man, who were in the blue Commodore, were taken to hospital in a stable condition.
The men had attended classes at TAFE shortly before the crash.
“TAFE NSW is aware of the incident and has offered counselling and support to our affected students,” a TAFE spokesperson said.
Coleman Street was blocked until Monday evening and detours put in place as the Crash Investigation Unit combed the area and made calculations as to the cause and conditions surrounding the crash.
Today, flowers have been left at the crash site from those who knew and loved Mr Smith as the community mourns his death.
