The Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) is hosting the hour-long A Conversation with Dr Stephen Duckett at the Wagga Council Chambers from 1pm
Dr Duckett will be presenting on the future of primary care, social determinates of health, and equity in healthcare. It is the first in an occasional series of public lectures by experts in the fields of health and social care presented by the MPHN.
“Dr Duckett is an internationally-recognised thought leader in the complex field of healthcare and this public lecture is a must-attend for anyone interested in cost-effective and equitable health services,” MPHN chief executive officer James Lamerton said.
“Far too often the Australian public only has access to the political narrative when it comes to healthcare. Dr Duckett’s public offering will give us all the opportunity to broaden our understanding of the principles that underpin health services in our country and internationally.”
Dr Duckett has a reputation for creativity, evidence-based innovation and reform in areas ranging from the introduction of activity-based funding for hospitals, to new systems of accountability for the safety of hospital care. An economist, he is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia, Mr Lamerton said.
This is a community event open to anyone with an interest in primary healthcare. Light refreshments will be available. Entry is by gold coin donation with proceeds to the Wagga and Region Suicide Prevention Network.
