The Bureau of Meteorology forecast 25-35mm for Thursday with the bulk predicted to fall from the afternoon onward.
Nigel Smedley from the Wagga BoM said the rain was expected to clear by Friday morning with fine weather predicted across the weekend.
The wet is the result of a trough system with an associated cold front moving through from the west.
