Well, well, well, what an honour my friend and I are getting, what a credit, after our visit to the monthly Rainbow Riverina meeting at Romano’s – RT Walker calls us “visiting evangelists” and trying to “hijack proceedings” (“Hijacked Rainbow only adds fuel to the fire”, October 14).

Really, it’s too much Mr Walker, we don’t deserve it.
It only shows you excel at spouting furphies and untruths. Here is what happened, and this can be verified by Kat van der Wijngaart.
When my friend and I arrived at Romano’s the dinner on the terrace was just about finished. We sat down for a couple of minutes and introduced ourselves to those nearest to us. Everyone then moved to the meeting room upstairs. The meeting was opened at 7.30pm and my friend and I listened quietly and respectfully to all that was said, but we didn’t speak at all except for giving our first name when everyone did so.
After an hour the meeting was duly closed and everyone left. My friend and I left also, without having said one word, and we moved downstairs to the exit doors and there, in private time, offered everyone a message with an app card enclosed.
As Mrs van der Wijngaart confirmed (“Rainbow invasion”, October 11), this message contained nothing offensive. So all this happened completely outside of the meeting in private time.
Now Mr Walker, what hijacking of proceedings took place? Get your facts straight and don’t blurt out furphies as truth. And don’t ever put words into my mouth, I didn’t even hint at anyone being “an atrocity” nor “adopted an insulting tone to boot”, nor breathed a word about all the talk of fire and brimstone.
If anyone adds fuel to the fire it is exactly you yourself doing so. Stop your harmful insinuations and baseless accusations. You owe the Rainbow Riverina people an apology for your hurtful words.
My message was simple, positive and offering comfort. I have been through the mill, to the extent that I would rather had been dead than alive, but by God’s grace and help from true friends, I got through it to a restored life. This is not fancy talk, I kid you not.
Finally, I’d like to reassure the Rainbow Riverina members that I’m not on the internet nor have a mobile phone and have no access to anyone’s email, Facebook page and phone numbers. Your monthly meetings and beach barbecues are published in the DA for everyone's information.
I hold no grudge against anyone of your group, to the contrary, I sympathise with your struggles and wish you well and if you still have it, use the app card - it is the source of my comfort and hope and joy of life.

Respect the people’s wishes
Politicians across the country must take note of the many thousands of Australians who turned out to protest the proposed Adani mine recently.
I can’t believe politicians would be in favour of this project when you look at Adani’s track record. Some politicians seem all too prepared to take Adani at its word. Considering past form, this would be an enormous gamble and the cost would be irreparable damage to our environment, and likely our economy.
If $1 billion of our money is to be used to prop up this Indian company, we deserve to have a say on it.
