A team filled with NRL players will take to Equex Centre next week to face the Country under 23s representative team.
The game is a warm up for the Rugby League World Cup and the Samoans will be out to impress.
A strong team is expected to line up to start their preparations.
Some of those penciled in to be at Wagga include Brisbane Broncos star Anthony Milford, John Asiata, fresh from North Queensland’s impressive run to the NRL grand final, the Bulldogs’ Sam Kasiano, Parramatta’s Frank Pritchard and his brother Kaysa plus captain Leeson Au Mau from the Dragons.
Bidgee region manager David Skinner believes it will be a great spectacle.
With such high quality opposition coming to Wagga, it shapes as a huge test for the Country team.
However Skinner expects they will rise to the challenge.
“Hopefully they see this as an opportunity to step right up to the plate,” Skinner said.
Samoa arrive in the city on Wednesday and will hold an open training session at Parramore Park.
They will also head into the community on Thursday including having a session with school children about their culture.
Players from both teams will also be attending a sportsman’s dinner on Thursday night at the Rules Club.
The clash with Country under 23s kicks off at 7pm on Friday with three curtain-raisers before hand.
