Wagga fencer Genevieve Shutte has taken home a swag of medals at the Riverina Fencing Championships in her hometown.

The local youngster won gold among girls in the mixed under 15 foil and mixed novice foil, silver in the mixed novice epee and bronze in the open women’s epee.
Shutte was also awarded with the Tony Domingues Trophy for best Wagga fencer of the competition.
Emily Ballantyne-Brodie also flew the flag for Wagga with silver in the open women’s epee, while Sam Hughes won bronze in the open men’s epee.
Fencers came from well outside the Riverina for the event, with competitors travelling from locations including Newcastle, Sydney and Canberra.
