Tai (Tye) Anthony Delaney appeared in Wagga Local Court on Monday after pleading guilty to driving a motor vehicle while disqualified, in breach of a good behaviour bond for the same offence.
Solicitor David Barron, who represented the 24-year-old, said his client had spent more than a month in custody after his arrest.
Police prosecutor Priscilla Jones said Delaney was failing to step up to offers to keep him out of jail.
Deemed unsuitable for an intensive corrections order due to a lack of engagement, Mr Barron asked Magistrate Michael Crompton to consider a suspended sentence or a short term of imprisonment.
“My client took an offer to drive a motorbike when he shouldn’t have,” Mr Barron said.
Mr Barron said Delaney intended to start a rehabilitation program.
