During the school holidays, Tania and Paul Gillanders have opened the kitchen at the Uranquinty bakery to budding young chefs, who not only have the chance to see what goes on in a commercial kitchen, but also to learn some tricks of the trade.
The 16 children who attended the class had the chance to learn plenty of tips on how to make lamingtons, sausage rolls and apple turnovers.
“The kids had so much fun,” Ms Gillanders said.
The bakery has been running children’s cooking classes since 2005.
The three-hour classes were held on Monday and scheduled again for Tuesday, September 26, and Tuesday, October 3.
There are still some spaces available for the class on Tuesday, October 3, and Ms Gillanders said if there was enough interest, extra classes could be scheduled. Call 0419 858 366 for details.
