Turvey Park’s under 17s won the club’s first football flag since 2011, cruising to a big win against Collingullie-Glenfield Park at Narrandera Sportsground on Saturday.

After an even first quarter, the Bulldogs made the most of the breeze, turning a two-point quarter-time lead into a 26-point advantage.
They virtually sealed the win in the third term, holding Collingullie-GP to two goals with the wind, before sailing home to a comfortable 77-point win.
Despite kicking 17 behinds in the last three quarters, the Bulldogs could enjoy the last quarter with Brad Ashchroft and Cody Bramich multiple goal-kickers in a dominant final term.
“It’s just a very good team – a team effort all year and today,” proud Turvey Park coach, Mark Carroll, said.
“They shared the ball really well and they played a really good game.
“It’s a great effort to be honest with you. These boys have probably got a template now for what to do with their football careers in the future… work hard as they have done all year and the rewards will come.”
Midfielder Damian O’Donoghue was instrumental in asserting Turvey’s dominance and won the Kohlhagen Medal for best-on-ground.
“He had a fantastic game,” Carroll said. “He’s like the energizer bunny, he gets to that many contests. But we had some fantastic blokes today, 24 boys all contributed and we had some good players all over the ground.”
James Pope, Ed Perryman and Xavier Mamo worked hard throughout on a tough day out for the Demons.
The Bulldogs dropped just two games all year, back to back in the middle of the season.
“I’m just terribly proud of the lads,” Carroll said.
“Everything I did ask of them, they did and they deserve this. They’re a great group of boys and taking this club forward.”
Turvey Park was also celebrating two strong wins on the netball court, with victory against Wagga Tigers in both the under 17s (34-23) and B Grade (51-28).
