The Kooringal man has been charged with break and enter a dwelling, break and enter a house and stealing, dishonestly obtaining financial advice and two counts of stealing from a motor vehicle.

The charges relate to seperate incidents dating from August 8 and 9, to September 3.

One of the incidents relates to a break-in and attempted break-in at neighbouring houses in Andrews Avenue, Kooringal.

Residents were home at the time, and homeowner Janet Moriarty said if the window had been open, “I could have patted him on the head”. 

While nothing was stolen from her house, Mrs Moriarty says her children’s ability to feel safe is gone, and nearly six weeks on, her daughter still can’t sleep soundly at night.

Mrs Moriarty has praised the “wonderful” police, for catching the offender, but says it remains to be seen if this will reassure her family.

“We will just have to wait and see. She’s still not sleeping,” Mrs Moriarty said.

The man will appear in Wagga Local Court on November 25.
