Frawley studies medicine in Sydney and had to get through his final exams this week before returning to Collingullie for the grand final showdown against Leeton-Whitton.
“It’s been a pretty hectic week,” Frawley said.
“I had my last exam on Thursday morning, then I flew down in time for training on Thursday night.”
It has been another year of solid commitment from Frawley, who usually drives to and from Sydney to play for the Demons.
He joined the club, through his girlfriend Jess Lewington, in 2014 and won a premiership.
A busy 2015 saw him stay in Sydney to play with Sydney University, before he returned back to Collingullie for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
“I’ve been up there (in Sydney) for four years now,” Frawley said.
“I usually drive back Friday arvo and then go back to Sydney on Sundays. It’s about 10 hours in the car. I started to get a bit stiff and sore from all the driving halfway through the year but it’s worked out pretty well.
“Having Jacko (Chris Jackson) coming from Newcastle, he comes through Sydney and we’ve been able to car pool a little bit, which is good.”
Frawley said a love of the club was his reason behind travelling for three years.
“I really enjoy the club,” he said.
“It’s good to be able to head home and I’ve got a lot of good mates here. It’s good to get out of Sydney every so often too, so it’s worked out well.”
The good news for Frawley, and Collingullie-GP fans, is that Frawley has finished his degree and secured his internship and residency at Wagga Rural Referral Hospital for the next two years.
Originally from Wodonga, Frawley, 26, said the opportunity to win a second premiership makes it all worthwhile.
“I knew we had a pretty handy list when we all came together at the start,” he said.
“I enjoy being around the club first and foremost, and enjoy playing footy, but you play to win premierships so to get that opportunity on Saturday is great.”
Frawley has kicked 16 goals from 15 games this season, including three against Griffith in last Sunday’s preliminary final.
With the Demons back firing after last week’s win, Frawley believes they can get the job done against the Crows.
“We’re confident, as long as we can have 22 contributors like we did last week,” he said.
“We’re going to have to pull out more than we did a couple of weeks ago, but if everyone plays their role then we can do it.”
