Olsen, Ryan Dedini and Andrew Jackman have been named as the central umpires for the Riverina League showpiece event.
It will be Olsen’s fourth Riverina League grand final, while it will be Dedini and Jackman’s first. Both men have umpired Farrer League deciders in the past.
Rick Firman and Lee Barclay have been appointed goal umpires.
It will be a record 20th Riverina League grand final for Firman, who started goal umpiring at age 12.
Olsen is looking forward to the big day.
“It’s exciting,” Olsen said.
“As umpires, we’re like players, we want to get to that last game in the year. To be able to do another senior grand final is pretty special so I’m looking forward to it.”
Olsen said you do approach grand finals differently to any other game.
“You’d be lying if you said you didn’t,” he said.
“Once we’re out there and the ball’s thrown up and we’re into it, it’s just like another game of footy, especially for us. There’s no prize on the table for us, we’re just there to do a job and make sure we do it properly.
“But, in the lead up you get involved, it’s always important to soak it up, be proud of the fact you’ve been selected. There’s only three of us out there so it’s a lot harder to get selected in a game like this.
“You take it as it comes but it is still a different game, it’s a different lead up.”
Olsen said protecting the ball player will be the priority, as it has all season.
