Aiken will line up in his 15^th senior grand final when the Demons take on Leeton-Whitton.

It is an opportunity Aiken views as a bonus after electing to come out of retirement to play this season at age 39.

“It wasn’t about (grand finals),” Aiken said.

“It was about having an opportunity to play footy again with the boys. I just love it.

“Whether we made the grand final, or won one, I mean to play in grand finals and win them is what you play footy for, but to me it’s just a bonus.

“It’s a privilege to be apart of a grand final, let alone to playing in it and to have the opportunity to win it.”

Aiken will be out to take his senior grand final record to 10 wins from 15 starts on Saturday.

“I’ve been lucky,” he said.

“At the end of the day it doesn’t matter how many you’re in, if you don’t win them.

“Hopefully I can make it 10.”

Aiken, the Demons’ assistant coach this year, turns 40 in April. He is yet to decide whether he will play again next year.

“I’ve been asked a fair few times in the last couple of weeks,” he said.

“If I did decide to play again next year it would be at Collingullie and I would probably do a bit more management, body wise.

“This year has taken more out of me than people realise. I’ve worked pretty hard to get up for some of the games this year.

“Next year, if I happen to play, would be more of a management thing. I wouldn’t play every game and give the body more of a freshen up.”
