Kearnes will join the national side when they begin a 10-game tour of Japan next month.
The 19-year-old said making the national team meant the world to her.
“I can’t believe it, it’s something I’ve dreamed of since I was a little girl,” she said.
“As soon as I found out I’d made it I rang mum and dad straight away and let the whole family know.”
The talented pitcher’s selection follows her appearance with the under 19 Australian team at the Women's Junior World Championships in Florida earlier this year.
The tournament saw the girls in green and gold make the playoff stage before being knocked out in the first round.
Kearnes believes it was an experience which will hold her in good stead at the next level.
“It was probably one of the best experience I’ve ever had,” she said.
“Seeing the different levels of each country and what they can do was a massive eye opener.”
Kearnes will play her first game for the open team on October 21.
