Having a breakfast meeting with business women in Wagga, was purely positive as Women in Business members heard solutions to gender gap problems that currently stunt business growth potential.

Guest speaker and SheStarts leadership program creator, Nicola Hazell said the sticking point is a chronic gender imbalance in business technology where reduced women’s input is ‘a huge lost opportunity’.   

“Technology is the environment right now and it’s an industry which is booming and will have an increasing impact on economies here in Wagga and around the world,” Ms Hazell said.

A member of the OECD Expert Advisory Committee on Digital Transformation, Ms Hazell said few women in business technology is a global missed opportunity. 

“There are so many great ideas we can harness by helping build technology to get these ideas out,” she said.

Ms Hazell said international businesses that addressed the gap saw unequivocal financial growth, a point Wagga Women in Business president Naomi Miller has experienced, and agreed with.

“Nicola and our panelists delivered insightful messages on gender equality and female entrepreneurship,” Ms Miller said.
