Residents watched on as Carolyn Michelle Kitto emerged from her Ford Focus unscathed after a dangerous voyage ending at Glenfield Park on August 2.
The 32-year-old blew a blood-alcohol reading of 0.208 after onlookers contacted police.
According to the facts, Kitto told police she had drunk three to four glasses of wine at her home between 5pm and 6pm before getting behind the wheel.
It took just 15 minutes for the accused to cross over to the wrong side of the road, mount the kerb and drive along a nature strip before colliding with the tree on Yentoo Drive.
While Kitto was able to walk away from the scene, the tree was thrown about 20 metres from the point of impact and the car left significantly damaged.
Representing herself in Wagga Local Court on Wednesday, Kitto pleaded guilty to one count of driving with a high-range PCA before apologising for her actions.
“I made a mistake and it won’t happen again,” Kitto said.
“I lost my licence that day and have entered a three-month day program to try and better myself.”
Kitto told the court she had finished half the traffic offenders program and was intending to make a booking to complete the remaining hours.
Police prosecutor Priscilla Jones told Magistrate Michael Crompton she noted the aggravating features of the crime.
“I would note the length of the journey and the fact that there was an accident,” Ms Jones said.
Magistrate Michael Crompton ordered Kitto to perform 100 hours of community service.
She will be off the road for seven months and received a mandatory interlock order for 24 months.
