Foster, 15, will be umpiring a host of games at the Pacific School Games in Adelaide from December 3.
The quietly confident Riverina Anglican College student said being chosen to be a part of the games was a dream come true.
“I’m really excited because it’s an international tournament and I’ve always wanted to go to one,” Foster said.
The youngster said umpiring could be a tough gig, but said he had learned to deal with the yelling and screaming directed his way from the sidelines.
“That sort of stuff does happen a lot,” he said.
“Some of it could be hard to deflect but I don’t really listen to it any more.”
On top of his umpiring commitments, Foster also plays for local club Harlequins, while coaching in the junior ranks.
