From one business in Wagga to family working in offices right across the country, Alan Harris McDonald is certainly a family business success story.
“This business is the oldest in Wagga, established and built up by great families since its beginning in 1928, and we continue that legacy to this day,” CEO Brendan Nugent said.
There are a range of family members involved in the business including fathers, sons, cousins, siblings and uncles.
“We don't all work in the same office but we are proud of how we work together. It takes a special type of person to work with grieving families; it’s more like a vocation than a profession, but it’s very rewarding to help families through the end of life journey of a loved one,” Mr Nugent said.

“Knowing so many people in our region, can be difficult when dealing with a loss within one of their families, but, they appreciate a service run by someone they know.”
Providing this service is only improved by the family team.
“With a family it is easier to work in difficult circumstance, you understand each other more than from just a working perspective,”.
This success is evident with expansion of the business over the years.
“Alan Harris McDonald will always be held by the Fitzgerald family. We see the success as the legacy of Andrew Fitzgerald, who got many of us involved in this business – we make sure it’s a continued success in tribute to him,” Mr Nugent said.
