Tumut president Tom Arragon confirmed the Blues are in the market for a coach for 2018.
“We are putting feelers out for a coach,” Arragon said.
“We aren’t too sure what Jarrad is doing next year and it a big ask for those blokes to travel.
“They travelled from Canberra three times a week.”
He indicated they were looking to move away from having a large traveling contingent in 2018.
While Teka is yet to decide on his future with the Blues, he has been left disappointed by how the club has handled the situation.
Teka said the club hadn’t approached him and only heard of their plans to advertise the position when contacted by The Daily Advertiser.
“It’s very disappointing to find out in such a manner,” Teka said.
“The club has had plenty of opportunity to talk to me about it and let me know.
“Nothing has been said, but I knew something was up though.
“After the year we’ve had, and everyone talking about how much success we’ve had, to not approach me and see what is going on I just knew something was up.”
Arragon confirmed the club was yet to speak to Teka as they look to keep their options open.
“We haven’t really spoke yet, we want to let the dust settle and see who wants to coach,” he said.
“We are going to put an ad in, see what happens and go from there.”
The 38-year-old, who led the Blues to a premiership in 2008, was initially signed as a non-playing coach in his return to the club this season before strapping on the boots in round 12.
He played in every game since then before injuring ankle ligaments in the preliminary final loss to Gundagai.
While very unlikely to play again in 2018, Teka was still open to having another season but that looks to have changed.
The Blues join Temora and Junee without a coach.
