On September 23, Luke Mayberry will leave from Wagga, the home town of his wife Laura, who has had type 1 diabetes since childhood.
He and friend Rodney Horan will walk a distance of 638 kilometres in three weeks, to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. They plan to finish by October 14.
The walk starts from the Victory Memorial Gardens and the public is welcome from 8.30am. The men have a fundraising page Wagga to Wollongong Walk on everydayhero.com
“I’ve seen how my wife has had to adapt her life due to the condition, and we also have friends whose children have been diagnosed at a young age,” Mr Mayberry said.
