At just 20 years of age, Ambler already has two Riverina League premierships to his name from his days at Collingullie-Glenfield Park.

A desire to play his best football resulted in him seeking a change at Temora this year, a move he is glad he made.

“It’s been really good, it’s been a fantastic year actually,” Ambler said.

“Pretty much since the first training run, they’ve all welcomed me really well. I was loving being at Collingullie but wasn’t playing good footy. I didn’t feel I was playing my best footy anyway, so I thought a change might do it and it’s worked out alright.”

Ambler was predominantly a forward at Collingullie-GP, and while he starts across half-forward at Temora, he now goes through the midfield as well.

It’s another change to his game Ambler thoroughly enjoys.

“I love it, it’s a completely different game to playing forward,” he said.

“You get to find the footy and it gives you a chance to get your hands on the footy pretty early, which is good too.

“I thought I’d give it a go and it’s worked out not too bad.”

Temora have won their past two meetings against the Bombers and will go into Saturday’s grand final as favourites.

Ambler is confident the Kangaroos can get the job done.

“100 per cent, I’ve got full faith in the boys,” he said.

“It’s about getting a good bond and being ready to go. With finals footy, you never know what’s going to happen, it’s whatever team turns up and settles first.”

He believes the midfield battle will decide the outcome.

“I think it all starts in the middle, like every other game I suppose,” he said.

“If we can shut down their midfielders, that will then cut down their forward supply, then that’s going to go a long way. When you break it down like that, it’s a pretty simple game.”
