The scores were locked at 10-all with Albury before Suckling calmly slotted the match winner to hand Brothers back-to-back premierships.
The 11-10 victory capped off a strong comeback by Brothers, who trailed the minor premiers 10-0 after 10 minutes.
Coach Craig Stewart was thrilled with the attitude the girls showed after slipping behind early.
“I said to the girls when we were 10-0 down that if we could score the next try we would be right back in it,” Stewart said.
“They dug deep, we got the next one and were lucky enough to get another.
“The bounce of the ball went our way, we got in good field position and slotted the field goal.
“It was just unbelievable.”
Haylee McDonell opened the scoring for Albury when she crossed after four minutes.
Moly Daly then gave the Thunder a 10-0 lead and it looked like they were going to go further in front only for Shelbie Sands to drop the ball.
Brothers responded in the best fashion as Jess Absolum ran 90 metres to score.
The try saw her team down 10-4 at half-time, but Stewart thought it gave the team momentum they needed going into the second half.
Absolum scored her second with six minutes left and Suckling’s sideline conversion levelled things up.
There was plenty of feeling between both teams, including a number of girls penalised for being physical in the ruck.
Daly was one of the players penalised right on her line and it gave Brothers a great, late opportunity.
It looked as though Madison Absolum was going to score for Brothers before a desperate tag from Jessica McDonell.
However they couldn’t stop Suckling’s boot.
While her brilliant finish sealed the win, Suckling could not have been more impressed with the fighting qualities of the team.
“It was a team effort by the girls,” Suckling said.
“We just stuck in their all the way to the end and it was a pretty physical game.”
Catching her rivals by surprise, Suckling was just relieved the field goal went over.
“I didn’t think Albury saw it coming, as I was back deep and no-one ran up and I think ‘if I miss this far out’ but it went over,” she said.
After scoring both of her team’s tries, Absolum was deserving named the best in the grand final.
Brothers have now won six out of the last seven leaguetag titles, with Gundagai beating them in extra-time during the 2015 decider.
Suckling said each win keeps on getting better and better and Stewart couldn’t disagree.
“It is really special this year from where we have come from” he said.
“We’ve tried a lot of different things, introduced new, young players into the team and have had a lot of injuries.”
