Concerns for Ms Boyd’s welfare have escalated with police establishing Strike Force Amias.
Officers travelled to Victoria on Thursday to collect DNA samples in the hope of locating her.
“Allecha Boyd is 27 years old. She’s one of five children and has been known to frequent the Wagga Wagga area over the last two years, so she’s made a number of friends and associates in this area,” said Wagga Crine Manager Detective Inspector Darren Cloake.
It’s been nearly a month since Ms Boyd was last seen buying cigarettes from a supermarket in Gurwood Street on 10th August, around 9.12am.
Her disappearance wasn’t reported to police until 12 days later on 22nd August, when a family member contacted Queensland police. Wagga police began their investigation when they were notified the following day.
“We know that from time to time she was employed as a cook or a chef and worked locally, and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance are certainly of a concern to police at this moment, Detective inspector Cloake said.
“Police believe that certainly after the visit to the supermarket, that Allecha may have made her way to the Coolamon area to an unknown address by way of motor vehicle,” he said.
No one has seen or heard from Ms Boyd since the 10th of August and despite initial appeals, she has not made contact with anyone for nearly four weeks.
“This is highly irregular for the missing person Allecha Boyd in that she had regular contact with family and friends,” Det. Insp. Cloake said.
Allecha Boyd is described as 167-175 centimetres tall, with long black hair of medium build with green/hazel eyes.
“We’ve been in regular with the family… Look we’re hoping for the best and preparing for the worst in this case,” Det. Insp. Cloake said.
Anyone who has seen Allecha Boyd is urged to contact Wagga Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
