Vunilagi was judged best on ground during the Phantoms thrilling grand final win over Waratahs on Saturday.
A real leader of the pack, Vunilagi’s ability to break the line to set up or score tries makes him a constant threat.
Despite picking up a knee complaint late in the game, he created plenty of headaches.
The humble big man paid plenty of credit to his teammates.
“I’d like to thank the coaches and the players as without them I couldn’t get this medal,” Vunilagi said.
“I can’t believe I got best and fairest in the grand final.
“I just strive in each and every game to be better.”
After being beaten in last year’s preliminary final, Vunilagi was thrilled to come out on top.
With a premiership win in his second season with the Phantoms, the number eight is keen to remain a Phantom.
