Prodigal Daughter is Ms Carter’s third published novel and it has just been released.
Ms Carter has spent much of her adult life on farms in Goulburn, Crookwell and now Narrandera, and says one of the reasons she enjoys writing so much is that it gives her the chance to preserve Australian folklore and weaving rural heritage in her storylines.
It was about 10 years ago, after her children left home, that Ms Carter joined a writing group. Ms Carter began by writing smaller pieces, but after her husband Richard suggested she “stop faffing around and write a novel”, she did just that.
