MP Daryl Maguire welcomes tougher driver-disqualification laws

Tougher driver disqualification laws have been welcomed across the city.

Wagga MP Daryl Maguire said the reforms would not only bring stronger sanctions, but also provide incentives for banned drivers to follow the law.

Attorney General Mark Speakman announced the changes last week.

Under the new scheme police will have extra powers to confiscate number plates repeat offenders on-the-spot and courts will have the power to lift disqualifications for committed law-abiding drivers.
