The two-year-old returns as a gelding and is one of the top shots in the Hurrikane Kingcole 2YO Pace (1755m) at Lin Gordon Paceway.
Coming off two trial wins, reinsman Reece Maguire is confident of a better showing than his sixth in Leeton’s richest race in January.
“He should run a pretty good race,” Maguire said.
“We had him gelded since then and found he had some hernias when he lost his nuts and he might have been a bit sore.
“Leading into the Plate he was pacing very well and come to the heat he hitched and skitched a little bit, even though he still went good, and in the final he was worse again.”
However it hasn’t been a problem this time around.
“He’s come along very nice,” Maguire said.
After Leeton’s feature race one vet recommended the horse be put down due to a tendency to shake his head.
It was thought to be caused by a mental deficiency but he hasn’t shown any signs of it this time in.
Maguire has two more drives on the seven-race card for his father Phil.
With both Chickies Boy and Christian Torado drawing well, he’s hoping for a good night out.
Chickies Boy hasn’t won in his last 10 starts but Maguire expects he will be better suited in this race despite having two horses drawn inside him with good gate speed.
“He’s just had a no luck for a few weeks but he should be there abouts,” he said.
