Four-time Boston Marathon runner and Wagga GP Rachel Glasson is among the biggest names to have committed to the event.
Reigning champion Mick Donges is expected to return to defend his crown, while his toughest competitor in previous years, Aaron Knight, is also expected to feature.
Donges’ wife Sara is also believed to be defending her half-marathon title.
While neither Donges has formally registered at press time, organiser Peter Fitzpatrick said elite competitors traditionally left it until the last minute before putting their names down, and both made verbal indications earlier in the year that they would throw their hats in the ring.
Fitzpatrick said excitement was building around town as the event drew near.
“Everyone is really looking forward to it,” he said.
“For a second there we thought we might not get the same numbers as last year, but it’s looking really good now.”
More than 450 people have registered and organisers hope they can attract as many as 700 competitors.
The event will feature elite runners from across NSW and Victoria, while also composing of competitors of all abilities, with races ranging from the 1.5km kids event right up to the full marathon.
