The club will resume from their winter hibernation with the cool competition series from about 2pm.
Racing will feature a number of types and classes of sailboat, from small mirror, manly junior and pacer dinghies, big and small catamarans, sailboards and trailer sailers such as the classic Hartley TS16s and larger Elliotts, Careels and RL24s.
Club secretary Geoff Tapper encouraged anyone interested to attend.
“The club maintains about a dozen boats of its’ own that are available for members to use. So it is not necessary to have your own boat to enjoy the sport of sailing,” Tapper said.
“Other members are also often looking for crew on their boats so if interested come on down from midday and some members are regularly in attendance much earlier.”
The club is also fully supportive of teaching new members of all ages to sail, or reengage with the sport. Short learn to sail programs are run on a required basis.
The year the club will welcome a couple of the local Army Cadet Units to a learn to sail weekend. Other youth groups are welcome to enquire about those options.
The club also races radio controlled yachts on Sundays from 2.30pm and Wednesdays from 4.30pm.
“These boats are a great way to enjoy sailing from the shore and are available online for about $200 with all radio gear ready to race,” Tapper said.
“Anyone is welcome to come down and try them out.”
