In it’s 12th year, the Up2Date Art Exhibition grew from a fundraiser for a local church to one of the region’s biggest creative displays.
The program works with community members across the region, art committee member Marion Farrell said, to help support Coolamon Central School.
“The first years, it used to be the Anglican church’s major fundraiser,” she said.
“After 10 years, the two original coordinators moved on but the rest of the committee continued.
“We ended up with a retired school teacher who got the P&C from the Central School to help with unpacking, hanging and catering.
“It worked out really well last year so we decided to continue on with it this year.”
It was pleasing to see the audience turn out, Ms Farrell said, and the wide variety of pieces on display.
“It was amazing how many people you could catch up with on the night,” she said.
“The wide variety of subjects and the quality of art this year was really good.
“From abstracts to landscapes, there was so much variety and something there for everyone to enjoy.”
The exhibition is on display for two weeks until August 19 at Coolamon’s Up-to-Date Store Cultural Precinct.
