WAGGA golfer Luke Chisholm has captured a one-shot victory in the Temora Open.

Chisholm fired a two over par round of 73 to win Temora Golf Club’s feature event on Sunday.

Chisholm went one better than his runner up finish in last year’s Open to beat Temora’s Darryl Jordan, Charlie Hartwig and Forbes’ John Betland, who were all one shot behind in a tie for second.

Wagga Country Club visitors enjoyed a successful trip with Chris Coghlan taking out the A grade stableford, and Mark Leary (79) edging out Paul Burns (81) to take out the B grade scratch.

Andrew Smith won the Paul Leary Memorial putting award, and he combined with Kyle Tuckett to win Saturday’s two person ambrose.

Around 160 people turned out to Saturday night’s fundraiser, where Scott Reardon wowed the crowd as guest speaker.

Temora Golf Club director Duncan McCrone said the weekend could hardly have gone better.

“It was a really good weekend for the club,” McCrone said.

“Scott (Reardon) was terrific. He was a really good speaker and was given a standing ovation at the end.

“We raised a lot of money and were really well supported by towns around the area, which was really good.”

The Open attracted 112 golfers on Sunday, while 84 took part in Saturday’s two person ambrose.

Reardon also helped raise $3800 for Batyr, an organisation that helps to educate and support awareness in mental health for young people, that is looking to establish a branch in the Riverina.
