The stakes could not be much higher in Sunday’s Riverina League clash between Coolamon and Wagga Tigers, as the Hoppers look to keep their finals hopes alive.

But that will only be part of the entertainment on a big day at Kindra Park where the Big Bush Freeze will take centre stage before the main event.

Ten Coolamon and Wagga Tigers supporters will go down a specially-made slide before the main game in a bid to raise funds for Fight MND.

John and Wendy Keogh went to school with Neale Daniher and have taken part in the Daniher Drive since it’s inception three years ago.

This year, the Keoghs along with Brendan and Joanne Gibbons, have created The Big Bush Freeze to help with their Daniher Drive fundraising efforts.

Their team, ‘The Grasshoppers’ have already raised $25,000 as they set out to become the biggest fundraisers of this year’s Daniher Drive.

“It has completely grown legs since we started the idea,” Keogh said.

“To do it at a game between Coolamon and Wagga Tigers was pretty easy because the Danihers have had a foot in both camps.

“It’s all to a good cause, MND is a terrible disease and it should be good fun.”

Chris Chamberlain, Scott Oehm and Scott Bance will represent Wagga Tigers down the slide.

Brett Allen, Connor Neyland, Peter Bartholomew, Andrew Pattison, Bruce Hutcheon and Rhonda Robinson will take part in the slide from Coolamon.

The Hoppers will also wear special MND guernseys on Sunday, supplied by Max Jamieson from Barellan.

The under 17 and reserve grade games will start 30 minutes early on Sunday, with the sliders to do their thing at about 1.30pm, before the main game.

There will also be a memorabilia auction at Coolamon’s Royal Hotel after the game on Sunday. Among the items is a guernsey signed by the four Daniher brothers, plus Bombers star Joe Daniher.

This year’s Daniher Drive will head through Wagga in October.
