According to the Bureau of Meteorology’s predictions, Saturday is set to be the hottest day of the month at a pleasant 21 degrees.
On Tuesday residents enjoyed some warm relief, with temperatures reaching a top of 18.5 degrees early in the afternoon.
Despite the sudden soar, Selwyn Snow Resort recorded four centimetres of snow on Tuesday, with an average depth of 11.8 centimetres.
Temperatures have slightly risen from last year’s mid-winter blues, with an average minimum of 2.4 degrees and a maximum of 13.3 degrees this month.
In 2016, residents experienced a slightly higher minimum of 2.8 degrees but a lower maximum of 12.7 degrees.
With another month of winter still ahead, it may reach a low of 0 degrees on Thursday 1 degree on Saturday, with a chance of showers continuing throughout the week.
