The pupils are selling Milo at lunchtime to raise money to help the Cartwrights Hill branch of the CWA, which was facing a $207.75 sewerage management fee from Wagga City Council.
The council resolved on Monday to waive the fee, but that hasn’t deterred the Ashmont pupils from wanting to lend a hand to the branch, which has just nine elderly members and have had the electricity to its Cooramin Street rooms disconnected.
Teacher Josh Jones said the children were hoping to build a relationship with the branch and to help out the CWA members on an ongoing basis.
“We would like to meet the members, either at school or by taking a group of pupils to them,” Mr Jones said.
