A 40-year-old Leeton woman was given an expensive birthday present when police issued her with a $550 fine for refusing to vacate Wagga's Victoria Hotel on Baylis Street.

It's one of six criminal infringements recorded in Wagga as part of Operation Barb, Wagga Local Area Command’s (LAC) response to a statewide crackdown on alcohol and drug crime, and antisocial behaviour.
Ten police and a drug detection dog conducted 40 inspections on Wagga licensed premises on Friday and Saturday night.
"Generally, people were very well behaved. We did have six persons who were issued with infringement notices," said Wagga LAC Inspector Peter McLay.
It was a sour end to what should have been a sweet night for the woman celebrating her 40th birthday at the Victoria Hotel when she was kicked out for being drunk.
Meanwhile at the Home Tavern, a 41 year-old Tolland man was also issued with a $550 infringement notice.
"A 41-year-old male was also issued with an infringement notice after being kicked out of the Home Hotel on Saturday night,” Inspector McLay said.
A 35 year-old Tolland man is set to face court after he was discovered with 1.2 grams of cannabis by the drug detection dog at the Tolland Hotel.
There were also a couple of minor licencing infringements from hotels which licensing police will be pursuing.
Police are urging patrons to be aware of potential fines with a third police sting to in October as part of Operation Barb.
