As has been so often the case this season, Uranquinty established a match-winning lead in the first quarter with Lana Duffy and Hannah Finemore netting sixteen first quarter goals.
The Stars managed only ten opening quarter goals with youngster Katie Caller not entirely her accurate self and Norbury still finding her way.
The Shooting Stars lifted in the second term, trading goals with Quinty and outscoring them, albeit by just one.
A very even third quarter saw the teams again score from their centres, with Uranquinty converting 13 attempts and the Stars netting 12 goals.
However, Uranquinty eventually decided to put their foot down and finished with an 18 goal period.
Maddy McIntyre amd Bridgett Dill stood out for the Stars, at goal defence and centre respectively.
Duffy continued her fine form as Uranquinty’s goal attack, while Georgia Tilyard consistently repelled the Stars’ attacking bursts.
Uranquinty played with just seven of their eleven-strong squad for the first time this season, with Abbeys: Morton and Lowe, Brooke Tilyard and Matilda Vearing all unavailable.
The Stars had to call on veteran Nicole McPherson to play as goal keeper in place of the unavailable Brianna Cain.
Jemima Norbury moved to goal attack in an attempt to cover for the absence of Erin Brown and Johanna Fernando.
Meanwhile, New Kids Aces enjoyed a convincing win over CSU Reddies, prevailing 68-37.
The result was more or less decided in the first quarter when the Aces’ shooting pair of Flynn Hogg and Lisa Frow piled on 19 opening term goals.
At the same time, their circle defenders, Emma Kleine and Rhiannon Podmore, restricted the Reddies shooters to a measley eight goals.
The Reddies task of matching it with their more fancied opponents became more difficult when their regular centre, Melanie Vidler, was injured in the opening term.
Vidler’s injury required Maddie Moon to move from wing defence to the centre and Grace Smith to fill the vacant wing defence position, having already played a game in A-Reserve.
Aces held a commanding 40-17 lead at half-time and still led by 25 at the last change.
Aces coach Naomi Hocker thendecided to experiment, swapping key players Lisa Frow and Lisa Reynoldson.
Despite these changes, the Aces again outscored the Reddies in last quarter.
The Reddies’ Cusack sisters, Brianne and Alannah, gave it everything they had, while Flynn Hogg, Emma Kleine and Rachael Addison were standouts for the Aces.
