Despite heading into the hills for a clash against Tumbarumba with an understrength pack, Kangaroos jumped out to a 28-10 lead at half-time.

While scoreless in the second half, Jeffery didn’t think his team was ever in danger of the defeat.

“They kept coming and scored a couple of late ones (tries), which was a bit disappointing, but we will take the win,” Jeffery said.

“They are tough to beat up there.

“With a bit of a mix and match team we went up there and got the job done.

“We will take it.”

The 28-22 win was crucial to keeping their finals chances alive.

They are now three points behind Brothers but have the bye before taking on their cross-town rivals and then Albury in the last two rounds.

Dylan McLachlan played his best game for the club and scored a double in the win.
