Salmon, 18, could not topple fellow Australian Isis Holt, who went on to claim gold with a world record setting time of 13.43 seconds.
Salmon finished with a personal best time of 15.92.
Holt also bested Salmon in the 200 metre event on Monday morning.
The event marks Salmon's third world championships.
