Dozens gathered at the Kooringal Hotel to honour the woman now regarded by child care experts, and all those lucky enough to know her, as the gold standard in child care; from the days when it was child-minding with no rules, to today’s fully-accredited profession.
“Marie is one of our longest-serving educators and she’s an inspiration to all of us. She has been at the forefront of positive change and always puts children first,” enthused Family Day Care manager Kym Stewart.
“We are in awe of the commitment and passion Marie has in providing such a fun and loving daycare service. We all love her,” gushed mum Gaby Bolton.
Son Matt Thornton says she sheds tears when they go to school.
“Mum really loves them like they’re her own,” he said.
