The 22-year-old recently pleaded not guilty in court to allegations she failed to provide the child necessary food, causing a danger of death.
The woman – who can’t be named to protect the identity of the young child – appeared to be upbeat during the hearing in Albury Local Court.
The matter was adjourned to next Friday by Magistrate Tony Murray with a date to be fixed for a hearing.
Officers had been called to a Lavington house for a reported domestic violence incident.
They were so concerned for the four-month-old’s well-being that paramedics were called.
Police allege the baby was seriously malnourished and suffering from neglect.
None of the woman’s three children live with her, with the Department of Family and Community Services arranging care for them after the incident in March.
The woman is unemployed but was not known to police prior to her arrest.
She sat in the courtroom wearing a dark Batman hoodie and smiled during the hearing.
Interim court orders are in place to protect the child, who is now aged eight months old.
The court heard there were no outstanding statements for police to gather.
