Lake Albert has held onto top spot after thrashing Wagga United 8-0 in a dominant display at Rawlings Park on Saturday.

The Gardner brothers had a hand in the majority of Sharks’ goals, Henri scoring a hat-trick and Fred adding two more, the latter also setting up Cameron Maver for a goal from a deadly accurate free kick.

Centre midfielder Jamie Rankin and club stalwart Justin Curran also found their way onto the scoresheet.

Star Lake Albert striker Fred Gardner said his side had raised the bar, after recovering from its shock 4-4 draw with winless Junee two weeks ago.

“Since we beat Leeton 4-0 last week I think we’ve stepped it up,” Gardner said.

“Everyone’s available, everyone’s playing their roles and we’re looking pretty good.”
