Short and sweet
Why is the present L.N.P State Government is not interested in improving and the way country passenger services are being run into the ground? Is this building up to the presage to closing it down?

What about the animals?
Up to half a million Australians may be unaware that they have type 2 diabetes, the leading cause of preventable blindness, limb amputation and end-stage kidney disease.
The tragedy is that most of these cases are preventable.
Animal-based foods are high in cholesterol and saturated fat, which has been shown to raise the risk for diabetes.
Scientists suspect that the sodium and nitrates found in processed meats—and the heme iron found in red meat—may also be contributing factors.
According to the Victorian Government’s Better Health Channel, vegans are less likely to suffer from many chronic diseases, including diabetes, coronary artery disease, and some forms of cancer.
Research shows that the average vegan is about 18 per cent thinner than his or her meat-eating counterpart, which is significant since 80 per cent of people with type 2 diabetes are overweight or obese.
Fortunately, studies have shown that diabeticswho eat low-fat vegan foods are able to stop taking medications—or at least take fewer of them—to manage the disease.
If you’re concerned about diabetes and other health problems—not to mention cruelty to animals and environmental destruction—please opt for tasty vegan foods.

For the record
I feel compelled to write to The Daily Advertiser regarding the article ‘Oz Day council clash’ (June 26) in which it was stated that “…. mayor Firman withdrew his shire from the ALGA conference because of a ‘poisonous’ political and city centric mentality”
At no stage have I ever indicated that Temora Shire Council, of which I proudly hold the office of mayor, did not attend the ALGA conference for these reasons.
Temora Shire Council did not attend the conference due to an assessment of value against cost.
Our attendance at all events and conferences are subject to this rigour to ensure ratepayers funds are used to provide the optimal benefit.
I seek the publication of this letter to provide your readers with the facts as they relate to this matter.
I thank you very much.

Fact or fiction?
In response to Kate McIlwain in the Advertiser.
So you decided that most people in Australia want gay ‘marriage?’ Where did you get that data from?
Journalists usually quote sources, you should reply via this column.
If your source is correct, then all is well for homosexuals and their supporters to allow a plebiscite to go ahead, the vote will go their way.
But why is it that there is so much rambling on and on by newspaper and television journalists to not have a plebiscite?
Is it that they are being deceptive?
Everyone knows a plebiscite will return a vote against gay ’marriage.’
A real marriage is not legally binding until it has been consummated.
