After a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Camden Tigers last week, the Wanderers play host to Nepean FC at Gissing Oval on Saturday.
Coach Ben Schmid is confident of a much better showing.
“It was a big trip for the boys and obviously a big loss but we come to training this week and go into Nepean were we only lost 1-0 last time,” Schmid said.
“It was quite a dubious penalty so we definitely think we can be competitive.
“If we play our cards right, we can walk away with three points this weekend.”
Schmid believes there is plenty of confidence within the group that they have what it takes to match it with the team currently third.
Their chances have been boosted by the return of Jake Ploenges, Callum Barber and American import Alex Millour.
Ploenges will add an attacking option up front with Barber to strengthen the midfield.
Schmid expects Millour will be a steadying influence across the back and having three big ins will help the club's depth.
Vasilis Spilotopoulos and Sebastian Wrobel were both injured in the loss last week, and while Spiliotopoulos is right to play Wrobel won’t be fit to take his place.
