Some of the best domestic cyclists in Australia will be among the 141 entries to take part in the two-day Wagga event.
Stewart and Brooker have both been included in division one, where they will go up against the likes of Albury’s Jesse Featonby, Sydney’s Rylee Field and Canberra’s Kris Johnston.
Wagga Cycling Club official Paul Wright expects Stewart and Brooker to do the city proud.
“They’ll be up there, they’re both riding really well,” Wright said.
“It’s still early in their development at this level but to be thrown in there with some of the best riders in Australia is a real credit to them.
“It’s arguably the strongest field seen in Wagga for some time.”
The Wagga Classic Road Race will be held on Saturday afternoon. Divisions one to three will complete a 102 kilometre course, starting at the Gap Road. Division four and five will perform a 60km course.
On Sunday, criterium racing will begin from about 8.30am around central Wagga with division one likely to be held between 11.30am and midday.
For the first time in the event’s history, equal prizemoney will be offered for winners of the men’s and women’s events.
Accomplished female cyclists Emma Vitto, Emma Heath and Megan Scott will all compete at Wagga, up against talented locals Alice Debney and Kylie Johnston.
