Tristan James Lee, 28, is alleged to have stabbed 37-year-old Mr Murdoch in Tolland on May 16, resulting in his death.
Public defender Michael King appeared for Lee in Wagga Local Court on Wednesday, responding to a partial brief of evidence served by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
DPP solicitor Andrew Hanshaw told the court the prosecution was waiting on medical information and a document from the Forensic and Analytical Science Service.
Magistrate Michael Crompton granted the DPP an extension of the brief service order to August 23 and adjourned the case until August 30 for Mr King to reply to the brief.
The mention lasted less than two minutes, with no plea entered or facts tendered to the court.
Lee was not required in court for the mention.
He has been in custody since going to the Wagga police station six hours after Mr Murdoch’s early-morning death in the driveway of a French Place house.
Emergency services were called to the Tolland property about 3.45am and found Mr Murdoch with a stab wound to his left thigh.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics, but died a short time later.
It is believed Mr Murdoch was stabbed while in a park between French Place and Toy Place before he stumbled into the French Place driveway and collapsed.
