The annual Winter Warmth Appeal has helped the city’s most vulnerable through donations of clothes, food, bedding and household items for 23 years.
This year’s Rotary of Wagga Wagga initiative will be held on Sunday, July 16 and the generosity of residents is being called on once more.
Those wishing to donate can either deliver items to Elders on Kincaid street or phone 6923 4666 from 8.30am to 1pm on the day. Volunteers and members of the defence force will travel across the city to collect and distribute the donations.
Saint Vincent de Paul regional administrator Chris Mullins said it was getting harder for everyday people to make ends meet and the need was greater during winter. He said demands on Vinnies and the Salvation Army were always growing.
“(Struggling families) have to feed themselves and then they find they get a huge (utility) bill,” Mr Mullins said. “It makes things particularly difficult.”
